The Pain of Separation...
There is little more devastating to the human heart than separation.
Of course, we think first of death—the permanent loss of a loved one that leaves behind an empty chair and a grieving soul. But there is another kind of separation, one that doesn’t involve a funeral but still feels like a death.
I’m talking about the quiet, unresolved kind: The kind caused by conflict. By misunderstandings. By unequal effort in a relationship. By what, in today’s world, we’ve come to call...
'Being Ghosted'
Ghosting is when someone you care about simply vanishes from your life—cutting off all contact without explanation or warning. One day there’s laughter, conversation, connection… and then, nothing.
The silence is loud. The absence is confusing. And the wound it leaves is real. We were not made for this kind of separation.
In Genesis 2:18, God looked at Adam and said, “It is not good for man to be alone.”
From the very beginning, we were designed for connection—first with God, and then with each other. This is why relational loss hits us so deeply.
It’s not just emotional; it’s spiritual. King David knew this pain well. In Psalm 55:12–14, he wrote:
“For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.”
David wasn’t hurting because of a stranger’s betrayal. It was someone close—someone he once shared life with. That’s the sting of separation: it doesn’t come from enemies, but from the ones we loved and trusted most.
Even Jesus Experienced This…
John 6:66 tells us, “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.”
Later, in His darkest hour at Gethsemane, even His closest friends fell asleep, unable to stay with Him. Jesus knows the ache of being left behind. He knows what it is to love someone who disappears.
But Here's The Truth That Steadies Us:
God never ‘ghosts’ us. He doesn’t walk away when we disappoint Him. He doesn’t go silent when we struggle.
In Hebrews 13:5, He promises,
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Even if others disappear without explanation, God remains near—closer than a brother, more faithful than the best of friends. And while we can’t control who stays or goes in our lives, we are called to live with open hearts.
We are reminded in Romans 12:18
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
That might mean forgiving someone who never apologizes. It might mean grieving a relationship that ended without closure. But in all things, we entrust our hearts to the One who will never walk away.
So if you’re hurting today because someone disappeared—whether suddenly or slowly—know this: God sees. God cares. And most of all—God stays…
God Doesn’t Leave or Forsake Us...
Because His nature is faithful and His covenant is eternal. He is not like people who grow tired, change their minds, or withdraw when it’s inconvenient. Scripture assures us repeatedly that His presence and love are constant, even when we fail or falter.
He is With Us Through His Promise
Hebrews 13:5 says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
That’s not a wish or a hope—it’s a promise, sealed by God’s own character. He cannot lie...
Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
And He doesn’t break a covenant...
Psalm 89:34, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips."
He is With Us Through His Spirit
Being 'born again', the Holy Ghost dwells in us…Always
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
Even in our loneliest moments, the Spirit is there—guiding, convicting, comforting, and reminding us that we are not alone.
He is With Us Through His Word
God speaks to us through His Word, which doesn’t grow silent even when people do.
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Even in seasons of emotional or relational abandonment, the Word reassures us, strengthens us, and reveals that He is not just ‘near’—He’s here, inside every Holy Ghost filled saint of God.
He is With Us Through Our Pain
God’s nearness is often most tangible in suffering.
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
He doesn’t always remove the pain immediately, but He enters into it with us—offering mercy, grace, and the comfort of His presence.
He is With Us Through the Body
God often shows His staying power through people—believers who pray with us, serve with us, and walk with us through hard places. He ministers through His Body, the Church, reminding us that we are seen, known, and we are loved. So even when you feel abandoned and your prayers seem unanswered, and your emotions scream “I Am Alone”…You are not!—God is always there. Not watching from a distance, but with you—in the silence, in the sorrow, and in the struggle.
Matthew 28:20 “Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”
And let me tell you finally, by the grace of God…
If You Need Me, I Will Be There!
